ECTS/GPA

Proposed recognition of the ECTS / GPA points for the university education within the so-called International system of comparison of education UNESCO

ECTS/GPA

Board of Directors of IFACC recommends to recognize the education within the scope of particular teaching programs of IFACC on account of university education according to the following credit system ECTS / GPA. To correctly calculate the ECTS / GPA points we suggest the following calculation.

Suggested system of awarding the ECTS / GPA points for the participants of the first aid courses within the IFACC system, which end with an examination

15 hours of student’s own learning = 1 ECTS / GPA point

10 hours of classes (individual lifesaving exercises) in groups of up to 6 persons – 2 ECTS / GPA points

5 hours of classes (lifesaving exercises in groups) in groups of up to 6 persons – 1 ECTS / GPA point

Total: 4 ECTS / GPA points

Justification

IFACC courses for the First Aid Responders are carried out in groups of up to 6 persons. Before practical exercises a participant gets access to the e-learning platform, where he can learn all the theoretical contents or he can get materials for self-study (materials for the teacher controlled self-instruction) via e-mail. A participant of the course can also ask his/her tutor questions. A participant is provided also with the internet tools for synchronous and asynchronous communication with a tutor.

Practical exercises are conducted in small groups – up to 6 persons. Supervision of the classes is carried out by ratio of: 1 lecturer – 1 student. The other students analyze the mistakes made by a person who is doing the exercise and then jointly discuss the mistakes at the end of drills.

Exercises in groups, such as dressing a cut wound, immobilizing an upper limb, are carried out in teams (of 2 persons).

Individualization of the course work, the organization thereof, educational standards and credit granting principles enable to give a maximum of 4 ECTS/GPA points within the academic education.

Suggested system of awarding the ECTS / GPA points for the participants of the first aid instructor courses

30 hours of student’s own learning = 2 ECTS/GPA points

15 hours of classes (individual lifesaving and didactic exercises) in groups of as many as 6 persons – 3 ECTS/GPA points

5 hours of classes (lifesaving and didactic exercises in groups) in groups of as many as 6 persons – 1 ECTS/GPA point

Total: 6 ECTS/GPA points
